Wellspring's Preteen/Teen Sewing Camp

For the first two weeks in July and in August, ASG Sacramento Chapter sponsored a class for students.

Angie Ott leads the camp team of volunteers—Susan Davenport, Denise Cassidy, and Melissa Kubiak.

Our other volunteers were Nadine Noelting, Elaine Berghausen, Janelle Embree, and Alice  Huerta.

Roberta Hopkins is our Community Relations Chair and does a wonderful job coordinating the programs at Wellspring.
Dear Sacramento Chapter, American Sewing Guild,
My name is Thomas Gatewood. I was an ASG Scholarship winner a year ago.

I wanted to thank you again for your support and share with you my recently completed collection for the ARC Collections Class under the tutelage of (the Wonderful) Anne Dieu.

ASG’s generosity helped me purchase some of the materials that made my life SO much easier as I made my collection. Thank you.

We were unable to do a live runway show and I opted for a dress-form based collection and video. It came out well and I got lucky to have a bit of a breeze during the shooting which afforded a little movement of the fabric.

In my houndstooth look, the colors are a bit off (at least on my monitors) and are in fact much prettier than they appear. The black dress needs a bit more light to show the front tuck pleases and the deep, back kick pleats.

All said and done, it’s been a great experience.
Thank you for your support.

Yours,
Thomas Gatewood

Wellspring Women's Center -- "The Hood" Quilt
An item we are overjoyed to bring you is a handmade quilt made especially for Taste of Hope by members of the American Sewing Guild who coordinate and teach the sewing program at Wellspring.
Socially-distanced brainstorming and design took place in a local park in January with Gail Reinke spearheading the project. Each person created a “neighborhood block” of houses using exquisite and colorful donated fabrics from Wellspring and their own stashes. No two houses are alike, and they really show the creative personality of each maker.

The evening virtual program will highlight the beautiful and creative ways in which our community has come through for us when it mattered most. Please join us for an inside look at the work we’ve accomplished, learn about our plans for the future, and help us celebrate Wellspring Women’s Center.
Events like this wouldn't be possible without our amazing supporters and sponsors.
Thank you in advance for your participation!

YouTube Sewing Channels - Technology to the Rescue
If you have a smartphone, tablet or computer, there is a way to view all kinds of sewing videos.
Download the YouTube app using your favorite device.  In the search box,  type in just about any sewing term such as “quilt,” “sew,” “sewing pattern,” etc., and all kinds of videos related to those topics appear.  Here is a partial list of sewing YouTube Channels where various sewing experts upload all kinds of instructional videos.  Some sewing experts even schedule periodic YouTube Channel “livestreams,", including some “sew along” livestreams.  You can subscribe to the Channel so you can be alerted to the latest video uploads.  Warning:  Watching sewing videos can become addictive!
