Challenge Rules / Guidelines

October—Sew something you have had in mind for a while (weeks, months, years!).
November—Sew a holiday project—any holiday qualifies.
December—Sew a gift
January—Make a name tag and include the year you joined the Sacramento Chapter –and wear it to meetings!
February—Sew something for your table—napkin, placemat, table mat, etc.
March—Use the color green this month.
April—Incorporate lace or some type of trim (rickrack, bias, piping, etc.) into your project.
May—Make something for yourself for “Memade May”
June—Red, White and Blue this month!
July—Use a natural fabric in a project—cotton, linen, silk, wool, etc.;
August—Sew something for use outdoors—napkins for a picnic, picnic cloth, door hanging, etc.
September—It’s national sewing month—your choice of a project this month!


The rules are as follows:
1. Each entry must be a sewing project (knitting, crocheting, etc., are wonderful . . .just not for this challenge)!
2. Entries can be basic sewing, quilting, machine embroidery . . in other words, use the sewing machine to make the project!
3. Only entries completed in their respective months will be eligible for entering into the contest.
4. One entry per month per participant.
5. Must be a member of the Sacramento Chapter of the American Sewing Guild to participate.
6. Each month’s project picture should be sent to sewistchallenge@asgsacramento.org by 11:59 pm on the last day of that month.
7. Winner to be announced at our Annual Meeting in the fall. Winner need not be present at the Annual Meeting to win, but we would love to see everyone there!
8. The winner receives a $100 gift card.
